Shirley Sue Harrison Christian, age 76, of Plainfield, Indiana, formerly of Bandy, VA, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Countryside Meadows in Avon, Indiana following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Bandy, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Clyde E and Thelma Harrison Honaker. Shirley was a Richlands High School graduate. Soon after graduation she married her best friend, Carl C. Christian. Shirley and Carl moved to Indiana and there they raised four boys. They always called the hills of Virginia their home. She enjoyed many trips to the beaches of North Carolina with family. She always welcomed family and friends into her home and was an excellent cook. Her specialties were homemade biscuits and homemade candy. She worked for many years at National City Bank and was also an Avon representative.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Carl Christian; son, Michael "Butch" Christian; daughter-in-law, Virginia "Sis" Christian; sister, Helen France; and sister-in-law, Janice "Flossie" Honaker.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with Pastor Barry Jessee officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
