Anthony James "Jimbo" Gregus, 87, of Jupiter, died Friday, June 30 at Hospice of Palm Beach County, West Palm Beach.

He was born in Hemlock, Mich., and lived in the Jupiter area since 1961.

He worked for Pratt-Whitney, retiring after 20 years.

Prior to that he served in the Navy for 21 years, retiring from Sanford Naval Air Station.

He was a World War II Pearl Harbor survivor.

He was a charter member and life member of the Jupiter Elks Lodge and a member of the American Legion Post 0271 of Jupiter.

Survivors include a daughter, Dixie Lee Schaaf and husband Jim of Jupiter; a sister Virginia Mihalek of Port St. Lucie; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty L. Gregus, in March 2002.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Taylor Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center St., Jupiter. A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m., July 6, at the funeral home. His nephew, the Rev. John Horney, will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta with the Navy presenting military honors.
