A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Thomas H. Wells and Beulah Pless Wells. Tom was also preceded in death by his sister, Anne Wells Taylor.
After graduating from Western Carolina University and obtaining his master's degree from Appalachian State University, he taught for 25 years at Blue Ridge Community College as an instructor in mechanical design and technology. He was a member of Arden Presbyterian Church.
Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Morgan Wells; daughters, Shari Lynn (William) Brown of Raleigh; Rebecca Jane (Chuck) Teseneer of Burlington; granddaughters, Rachel Teseneer and Victoria and Kristen Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, January 23, 2016, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverend Ken Crabb
officiating. Family and friends will be greeted immediately following the service. A private burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery.
