Madeline L. Anderson, age 92, a Wheaton resident since 1959, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, at Brighton Gardens in Wheaton. She was born on December 24, 1923 in Novum, Virginia to John and Elizabeth Hoffman.
After graduating high school, she worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. during WWII. She met Victor L. Anderson at a friend's wedding and they were married August 6, 1948 in Chicago where Victor had graduated from Moody Bible Institute. They moved to Wheaton where Victor worked for Scripture Press. She dedicated herself to raising their three children. She enjoyed travel and after Victor's retirement they traveled across the United States. She was an accomplished seamstress and attended the Wheaton Bible Church for many years.
Her survivors include two sons, Marvin (Katherine) Anderson of Wheaton and Byron (Pamela) Anderson of Lake Zurich; and seven grandchildren, Eric (Chandra LeGue) Anderson, Stacey (Mike) Bentley and Evan (Kelli) Anderson, Matthew and Scott Hammond, and Jake and Nicole Anderson, son-in-law, Bob Hammond of Washington and her sister, Lavinia Booth of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, her daughter, Carol Hammond, and her siblings, Mavis, Joyce and Royce.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 17, at 3:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, Illinois.
