UNION - William McDaniel "Bill" Mitchell, 82, of 204 James St. died Sept. 9, 2001, at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Union, he was a son of the late Robert and Maude
Allison Mitchell and widower of Hazel Wilson Mitchell. He was formerly married to the late Margaret Franklin Mitchell Morris. He was a veteran of the Navy, retired from Security Forces and was a security guard. He worked as a contractor with Daniel Construction, was a member of Westside Baptist Church and former member of American Legion Post No. 22 and the Union Moose Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Wlater "Buddy" Mitchell of Conway and Frankie Dell Mitchell of Buffalo; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Rosemont Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Crocker. The family will receive friends following the services.
Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church, 105 Lawson Ave., Union, S.C. 29379 or to the charity of one's choice.
