Son of John Hugh and L. Dean Miller Birch.

BIRCH, John M. "Jack" was born August 10, 1919 the son of John M. Birch and Dean Miller Birch. He was an alumnus of Bryan High School class of 1937. Jack worked at his father's gas station and attended Earlham College for 2 years as a member of the class of 1941. He was a mechanic at Wright-Patterson Air Field during World War II. He also studied at Coyne School; a trade-technical institute in Chicago, Illinois. Jack also worked as an electrical contractor in Yellow Springs after the Xenia Tornado in 1974 and for Greene county as an electrical inspector. He retired from Greene County in 1991. Jack was a 25 year member of the Miami Township Fire Department. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greene County Historical Societies, Masonic Lodge 421 Free & Accepted Masons, an honorary member of the Master Electrical Association in Dayton. Survivors include his wife Marilynn Beatty Birch; cousins, Jane Wolford (Robert) Adams, of Columbus, Ohio, Charlotte Stanley (Evan) Alderfer, of New Jersey, William Stanley of California, Barbara Stanley (Barry) Harrison, of Loveland, Ohio, Dorothy Cottrell Caswell of Oneota, New York, Diane Cottrell of Troy, Michigan, Richard Cottrell of Houston, Texas. Funeral service will be Tuesday September 27 2 p.m. at the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME in Yellow Springs, A Dignity Memorial Provider. Burial to follow in the Glen Forrest Cemetery in Yellow Springs. Family to receive friends one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, Inc. 3797 Summit Glen Dr. (Miami Township) Dayton, Ohio. 45449 or Hospice of Dayton, Inc. 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, Ohio, or Friends Care Center, 150 E. Herman Street, Yellow Springs, Ohio.
