Obituary for Everett Christy "E.C." Beeman

Everett Christy “E.C.” Beeman of Eureka, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at his home in Eureka, Kansas, at the age of 90.

He was born on December 31, 1925, the son of Vonzo “Vonie” and Verna Mae (Dowell) Beeman. He was raised in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School. After his schooling, he served in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Margie Ione Dunn, to this union one son, Darrell was born. This marriage later ended in divorce.

E.C. owned and operated the grocery stores in Hamilton and Madison. On January 14, 1967, he was united in marriage to Thelma Jean Derbyshire in Wichita. They made their home in Hamilton and later Seattle, Washington. In the mid 1980’s they returned to Eureka where E.C. helped at Howard’s IGA in Eureka. He retired in the late 1990’s. Thelma preceded him in death on August 11, 2009.

He attended River of Life Church in Eureka.

E.C. is survived by three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Birtciel of Emporia. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma; son, Darrell Wayne Beeman; and two brothers, Jim Beeman, and Vonie Beeman.

No funeral services are planned. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Blakely Cemetery, Madison. Koup Family Funeral Home is in charge of service arrangements.
