JOHN V. GRANT, 67, SUCCUMBS IN BUTTE HOSPITAL

John V. Grant, 67, a resident of Melrose for the past 30 years and of the county 41 years, passed away in a Butte hospital Thursday afternoon after a lingering illness. He had been a hospital patient since February of this year.

The deceased was born in Clinton, Mo., November 15, 1875 and came to this vicinity 41 years ago. For a number of years he operated the old Shineberger ranch which is now known as the Roe ranch, and later spent 30 years as a Melrose resident. He was a member of Dillon Masonic lodge No. 16, A.F. & A.M.

Funeral services are to be conducted Saturday at the Masonic hall in Dillon with Rev. Calvin Logan officiating. Interment is to be in Mountain View cemetery. Masonic rites are also to be conducted.

Survivors include a son, Norman of Melrose; a grandchild, Norma Jean, also of Melrose; a sister, Mrs. Henry Kinyon of Clinton, Mo., and a brother, Charles, of Great Falls.
