Roosevelt Allen Jr., age 68 years of Gary, Indiana exchanged time for eternity on January 9, 2016 peacefully at home. Roosevelt Jr. was born to the union of Patsy L. Taylor and Roosevelt Allen Sr. on June 16, 1947. He was the first born to this union. Roosevelt accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, he later joined St. Timothy Community Church as a young adult and remained there until his passing. Jr. as he was affectionately called attended Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1965. He also attended Howard University (Washington, DC), graduated magna cum laude Indiana University (BS degree accounting) graduate studies at DePaul University (Chicago, IL). He was life member of NAACP, Kappa Alpha Kappa PSI Fraternity, Lakeside Lodge PHA, former Calumet Township Advisory Board Member for 27 years, former Board Member of Edgewater Systems for Balanced, Living, executive Board member of NIRPC, member of the Lake County Democratic Organization, president of the 911 board, sweetheart of the Phyllis Wheatley Federated Colored Women's Club, a life member of the N.A.A.C.P., Lakeside Lodge #47, PHA, and numerous other organizations. Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents Roosevelt Allen Sr. and Pasty L. Allen and son Earnest Tre Daurham. Roosevelt is survived by his three loving daughters Lisa (Jerry) Wilson, LaTrice (Edward) Geter both of and Indianapolis, IN and Olivia Allen of Gary, IN; seven grandchildren Jasmine Allen of Brooklyn, NY Courdney Hines of Indianapolis, IN, Nidjah Wilson of Indianapolis, IN, Kadlin Geter of Indianapolis, IN, Jaden Wilson of Indianapolis, Samari Wilson of Indianapolis, IN and Amari Tre' Allen of Gary, IN; one sister Valerie (Wallace) Broadnax; brother Gregory Allen both of, Gary, IN; aunts Mary Ann Guyton, Venetia Williams and Alta Allen all of Gary, IN; devoted companion Donna A. Brown of Merrillville, IN; two nieces Carmelita Perry-Henry and Aaliyah Allen of Indianapolis, IN, nephew Edward (Shauntell) Perry both of Gary, IN and a host cousins, great-nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation Friday, January 15, 2016 from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. Family hours 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 W. 11th Avenue. Funeral service Saturday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Community Church 1600 W. 25th Avenue. Rev. Alfred Johnson officiating. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
