Enoch Abel Rodríguez Sr., age 92, a longtime resident of Española, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Belén.
Enoch was born to Tranquilino and Juanita López Rodríguez in Ojito, NM in 1923. Enoch attended Allison-James School in Santa Fé and Menaul School in Albuquerque.
Enoch received his Bachelors degree from the University of New Mexico and his Masters degree at Highlands University. Enoch and his wife devoted their lives to McCurdy School where Enoch taught, counseled, coached and was Director of Admissions from 1951 until 1988, and then he became a volunteer until they moved to Belen in 2011.
Enoch will be dearly missed for his gentle spirit and quiet humor by his family and friends.
Enoch was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 65 years, Eustolia, his brothers, Willie (Eufelia), Bialquin (Lila) and David (Julia) and sister, Priscilla (Rogerio).
Enoch leaves his legacy of love to his daughter, Esther (Bill), son, Rodd (Mark Bastian), his grandchildren, Kim (Matt Montaño) and Curtis (Rosabelle) Schattschneider, great-grandchildren, Jeren, Ethan, Diego and Madizyn, step-grandchildren, Adam (Kathi) Bastian and Erika (Chris Brown), step-great-grandsons, Jack and Henry, brothers-in-law, Ambrosio Ortega (Eva) and Clovis Romero and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 85 Manzano Expressway in Belén beginning at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to McCurdy Ministries or First Presbyterian Church of Belén.
