LOUIS (LOU) PETER GUARALDI March 3, 1912 - August 28, 2004 Louis (Lou), dearly beloved husband of Fernanda (Fern), married for 67 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep. Loving father of six. Survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Lou met Fern at the famous dance hall Baltavern in San Francisco in 1936. Love blossomed on the dance floor. Two beautiful ballroom dancers noted for their smooth dancing, they were able to dance to any type of music. Married April 11, 1937, Lou first worked at New Method Laundry. From there he worked at Golden State Dairy, where he rose from driver to supervisor in a short time. Lou went into the grocery business, So. San Francisco's Palace Market, in 1956. It was in 1957 that Lou was approached by Alex Gaddini to join the Young Men's Institute. Alex was to become his best friend. As member of YMI #32, Lou soon went through the chairs to become Council President, serving from 1961 to 1962. Because of his great way to motivate people with his ideas, he was elected Grand President of all YMI, serving from 1965 to 1966. Because of his leadership all the councils enjoyed rise in membership. Lou became known as Mister YMI. Lou was one of five who were the first group to be inducted into the Council 32 Hall of Fame in 1990. In 1966 Lou went back to the milk industry, Berkeley Farms, where once again, because of his bright mind, he helped Berkeley Farms become one of the leaders in the milk industry. Lou was a mentor to many. After his retirement in 1984, Lou strongly supported YMI. His ideas still are why YMI #32 is the largest and most active council. Also, he was very active in the YMI Council #32 Food Basket Program.
