At the age of twenty-three years, Darrell moved with his family to Mississippi, settling into the Leland and Greenville area. For awhile, he worked with his father in farming; however, his interest in cars soon led him into car detailing and later into being a used car salesman. He continued this occupation until his recent retirement.
Darrell always maintained a nice attitude towards the church. His visits to the Leland Congregation were always appreciated. Although he lived apart from his family for many years, his affection for his family members was evident.
He is survived by his father, Elmer, of Moundridge, Kansas; one brother-in-law, Samuel Byrnes of Gentry, Arkansas; two nieces and three nephews. Preceding him in death are his mother, his sister, and one brother-in-law.
Memorial services were held at Leland, Mississippi, and Moundridge, Kansas. The service at Leland was conducted by the Leland ministers, and the committal service was at the Lone Tree Church Cemetery officiated by Deacon Delbert Becker and Min. Dale Koehn.
