Lenora Estelle Festa (nee Nelson) age 90, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Lenora was born in Staunton, Indiana and moved to Gary, IN after WW II. Long time resident of the Aetna neighborhood of Gary before moving to Crown Point in 1972. Lenora is survived by seven children: Joseph (Carole) Festa, Christine (Michael) McLain, Nanette (Michael) Wargo, Michael (Collette) Festa, David (Lori) Festa, MaryAnn (Joseph) Olley-Cailles and Jennifer (Jean) Festa-Graham; honorary son, Dennis Schramm; 11 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; brother, Donald (Joy) Nelson; sister, Jennie Neff; numerous nieces and nephews. Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Festa; son, James Andrew Festa; son-in-law, Michael Olley; grandson, Mark Olley; parents: William and Emelda Nelson, brothers Lucien and Harry Nelson and sisters Patricia Nelson, Christina Nelson White and Jean Nelson Grubbe. Lenora was a life time member of Heritage Quilters and Loose Threads. She was a founding member of the Crown Point Library book club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and visiting the Crown Point Library. Most of all she loved being a mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and taking care of her family.
