Evelyn Irene Cook Stone, 91, of Columbus, Kansas, passed away after a long illness with Alzheimers.

She was the daughter of Walter R. and Lottie Dalton Cook.

During her youth, she lived at the old Shively Place, near Bell Center, attending Lowell school through the third grade. Her family later moved to the Galena, Kansas aewa, where she completed her education attending Roosevelt and Galena schools. She was a lifetime area resident of rural Galena.

She was a homemaker and housewife.

She was a member of the Assembly of God faith, and was involved many years in teaching Sunday School classes for both adult and children.

She was married to Ellis Leo Stone Sr. for 46 years, until he preceded her in death in 1979.

Surviving are her children, Beaulah Hodge of Galena, Leaulah Hodge of Columbus, Ks., Ellis Leo Stone Jr. of Galena, Ks., and Judy J. Vanek of Linn Valley, Ks. One sister, Dot Stone of Galena, Ks., seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mable Messer, Inah Hoyt, and Florence Lee, and three brothers, Quinten Cook, Paul Cook, and Clifford Cook.
