Rex Melvin Murphy, 89, of Menlo died of lung cancer Sunday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at First Congregational Church in Stuart, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Dexter Cemetery.
Mr Murphy was born in rural Adair County and had lived in Dexter until moving to Menlo 54 years ago. He was a retired section foreman and machine operator with the Rock Island Railroad, a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, Lions Club, and a card club and saddle club. He enjoyed playing pitch and cribbage.
Friends may call after 10 am today at Cramer-Link Funeral Home in Stuart, where the family will be prersent from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
