He was born on June 24, 1937, in East Jordan, the son of Carroll and Maxine (Waite) Bartholomew. On August 26, 1989, he married Florence (Seaton) Barnett.
Franklin had worked as a carpet layer. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, golfing and bowling. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Florence Bartholomew of East Jordan; five children, Karen Jean Lozcki of Grand Rapids, Bonnie Bartholomew of Grand Rapids, Deb (Dave) Roskamp of Grand Rapids, Jim (Carolyn) Barnett of East Jordan and Julie (Chuck) Brooks of Wolverine; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Carroll Bartholomew, Jr. of Wayland, Norbert (Bonnie) Bartholomew of Bellevue and Lynn Bartholomew of Traverse City; two sisters, Lillian Bartholomew of East Jordan and Marilyn (Bill) Hiser of Tecumseh; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be gathering to celebrate his life on Monday, January 11, 2016, from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the East Jordan Sno-mobilers Club. Interment was in Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan.
The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan. Memorial contribution may be directed to East Jordan Ambulance Association.
