Neva M. Foster, age 91, of Howe, IN died Wednesday January 6, 2016 at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
She was born on August 13, 1924 in Hancock County, OH to Harley Eugene & Dimple (Parcher) Doty.
She spent most of her early life in Findley, OH and surrounding area.
She married Lester Foster on December 5, 1945 in Detroit, MI. After moving to Michigan In 1947 she joined the Burr Oak Grange and enjoyed helping at dinners and fish fry’s until enough money was raised to put on the large addition to the Grange building. She continued to help at the fish fry’s for many more years. She held the office of Lecturer for a few years and was also part of the first and second degree team and the fifth degree team. She was also a member of the Busy East Corner Extension Group. She had worked with her husband in his Sharpening business as his office manager until their retirement.
He preceded her in death on November 23, 2014. She is survived by her daughter – Nelda Foster of Sturgis, MI. 1 son-in-law – Vernon Hirschy of Bronson, MI. 1 daughter-in-law – Deana Foster – Howe, IN. 6 grandchildren; Dawn (Tony) Hayes, Joel (Liz) Hirschy, Jerrod Rhoades (Linda Gundrum), Ashley (Jordan) May, Heather Foster (Travis Britton), Kelsie Foster. 3 step grandchildren; Melissa Ferguson, Caytee Ferguson, Alisha (Jacob) Blackmore. 5 great grandchildren; Shelby Long (Brandon Brewer), Damian Long, Sarah Hirschy, Kaiden Hirschy, Shaylene May. 7 step great-grandchildren; Shawn Hayes, Abby Gail Ferguson, Jayden Ferguson, RyAnn Blackmore, Jeremy Blackmore, Mey Leah Blackmore, Ellyonna Ferguson. 2 great-great grandchildren; Memphis Brewer, Bow Long and 1 step great-great grandchild Corbin Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Foster, 1 daughter – Kay Elizabeth Hirschy on September 6, 2006. 1 son – Daniel Stephen Foster on March 26, 2014. 1 brother – Warren Doty.
Visitation will be held on Friday January 8, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN. The funeral service will be held on Saturday January 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Sturgis, MI.
