George W. and Soloman J. Hopkins moved to Lawrence County, Tennessee, where George was married in 1854 to Nancy Ann (Lancaster) Saylors. By 1860, George, Nancy, and their growing family were residing in Tippah County, Mississippi. Their family included the following children: Joseph Lancaster, Solomon Jackson, Silas M., George Washington, Nancy, and James Thomas. Also, Nancy's sons William and John Saylors were members of the family. George Hopkins' household resided in Kentucky by the late 1860s and in Independence County, Arkansas by 1870. George and Nancy Hopkins settled near Wanette, Oklahoma, on land that was part of an original 160 acre tract obtained by their son James in the 1889 Land Rush.
