Born 9 Mar 1843 in Poland, Mahoning County, Ohio. On December 23, 1863 he joined the Union Army (Grand Army of the Republic - GAR) 67th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company H, in Wood County, Ohio. He was a private. He was mustered out with the entire unit on 7 December 1865. He died 27 February 1922 and is buried beside his wife Mary Ann Nitz Stacy in Riverside Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
