Joel B. Miller was an outstanding man in the community in his generation. Beside operating a large farm, he was known far & near as an expert mechanic, in both wood and metals. All of his 5 sons & many of his grandsons were born mechanics. The study and the practical applicatons of the science of geology was a lifetime hobby with him.

MILLER .--On the 2nd of August, in Elk Lick Twp., Somerset Co., Pa., of paralysis, Joel Miller , aged 74 years, 4 months and 6 days. Funeral services by Manasscs Beachy from Rom. 8:1-5. The services were attended by a large concourse of friends and acquaintances. He leaves a second wife and nine children to mourn his departure. The deceased was a faithful member of the Amish Mennonite Church until he was called from labor to reward. He is much missed by the church in the singing.
