Anna Margaret Bailey McCracken Wright was born 19 Feb 1917 in the Bailey Hollow near Leoma, Lawrence Co., Tennessee. She was the daughter of Horace Greeley "Jack" Bailey and his wife, Minnie Belle Lumpkins, both of whom were also native Lawrence Countians.
Mother was the maternal granddaughter of James Frank Lumpkins and his wife, Anna Lou "Annie" Grimes. She was the paternal granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson Bailey and his wife, Margaret Ellen Stacey. The Lumpkins Family and the Bailey Family were among the early settlers of Lawrence Co., Tennessee.
Mother was named Anna Margaret after her maternal & paternal grandmothers, Anna 'Annie' Lou Grimes Lumpkins and Margaret Ellen Stacey Bailey. Never liking the nick-name "Annie Margaret", she reversed the names and was called Margaret Ann after she married...now, few people remember her as Anna Margaret, although the name was never legally changed. She was a nurse and worked in that profession for over 30 years.
Margaret was the wife of (1) Luther Blount McCracken with whom she had three children: Luther Blount McCracken, Jr. who died within an hour of his birth, Maryanne Annette and Frances Gail. She married (2) Lee Thomas Wright. There were no children from this marriage.
Mother died in the intensive care unit 13 Nov 1980 at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama, about two weeks following the rupture of a blood vessel in her brain. With her at the time of her death were her two daughters, son-in-law and three of her sisters.
