MORAN - Elaine Houk, 74, Moran, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at the Moran Manor.
She was born Dec. 27, 1928, on a farm northwest of Iola, the daughter of Floyd Lee and Ruth Osborn Lorance.
She grew up north of Iola, attending Liberty Rural Grade School and graduating from Iola High School.
She worked as a secretary and insurance agent for C.A. Houk Sr., Joe Houk and Marion Houk.
She was past worthy matron and district aide for the Marion Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Moran, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
On Jan. 15, 1947, she married C.A. Houk Jr., in Yates Center. He died June 1, 1994.
Survivors include her mother, five sons, a sister, 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Delmer Lorance, two sisters, Lois Seigel and Floya Lee Baker, and two grandchildren, Jerry Houk and Terri Wagner.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at the First Baptist Church, Iola. Burial will be in Moran Cemetery.
