Geneva Watson Merrell, 88, of Englewood, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at her brother's residence.

She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Ethel Trotter Watson. She was a member of Athens Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, listed above; her husband, A.R. "Bud" Merrell; and eight brothers and sisters.

Geneva was a homemaker who loved working in her flowers and enjoyed her friends.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cherrie Merrell of Tellico Plains; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Vesta and Carl Melton of Athens; brother and sister-in-law, Armond and Linda Watson of Englewood; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Minister Mark Littleton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Highland Memorial Park in Knoxville for the 1 p.m. committal service.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
