Alexander G. Froehlich, 89, of 2100 E 6th St, Merrill, died on Sunday, October 2, 1994 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill.

Alexander was born on December 2, 1904 in Merrill to the late John and Amelia Jaerges Froehlich. He married Caroline Wais on April 6, 1940 in Merrill.

Alexander had a rather varied working career. He clerked at the Peterman Department Store for more than 20 years, then worked for Rhode's Liquor Store, and later for the Semling Menke Company. In 1983 he retired as an installer for Merrill Sheet Metal. Alexander was a member of the National Guard from 1923-1930, 1931-1940, and 1949 to 1955. He was a member of the Eagles Club for 70 years.

Survivors include his wife Caroline, Merrill; two daughters, Ann Mary (LaVerne) Krueger, Marathon and Kay (Norbert) Duba, Arlington Heights, IL; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services were held in Merrill on the morning of October 4, 1994. Father James Horath officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Merrill.
