Joseph R. "Buz" Sturgess, 63, died June 12, 2011 in a home accident.
Joe was born in Savannah, GA, and grew up in Winter Haven, FL. He was a graduate of Winter Haven High School and the University of South Florida. Joe was a charter boat captain for the past 30 years in Boca Grande.
He is survived by his parents Barbara and Joseph Sturgess, Jr.; sisters Janet (Charles) Morgan, Jeri Sturgess (Ray Glave), Robin (Rob) Gregg; brothers Eric Sturgess (Tina Babiak), Roy Sturgess; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Boca Grande Community Center, 131 W. 1st St., Boca Grande, on Sunday, June 26 at 1 p.m.
