Allen Lynn Beymer, 65, of Delavan, passed away at 4:05 pm Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria from complications during a surgical procedure.

He was born March 17, 1950 in Denison, IA to Carl and Isabelle Beymer. He was raised in rural Denison and received his education in the Denison School System and attended Clarinda Community College, Clarinda, IA and Midwestern College in Denison.

Allen served in the United States Army National Guard from 1972 until his honorable discharge in 1977.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. from 1973 until his retirement in 2009.

He was united in marriage to JoAnn Brosnahan on July 29, 1972 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. They were blessed with two children, Jennifer and Jeremy. Allen and JoAnn moved to Emden in 1973 and later moved to Delavan where they lived until his death.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, JoAnn of Delavan; one daughter, Jenny (John) Larimore of Delavan; one son, Jeremy of Louisville, KY; one granddaughter, Chloe Larimore; three sisters, Carole Stone of Delavan, Sue Miller of Denison, IA, and Bonnie Farley of Coggon, IA; two brothers, Jim of Denison, IA and Dale of Tulsa, OK; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl, Raymond, and Richard; and one sister, Marilyn Babbe.

Allen served on the Delavan City Council for six years.

He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Delavan, where a memorial mass will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Msgr. Timothy Nolan will officiate. Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Monday and one hour before the service, both at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Delavan at a later date. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
