James R. Goss, 61, died September 17, 1996 at the Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti. Born January 19, 1935 in West Plains, Missouri, he is the son of Virginia Wray Hall and the late James Renfroe Goss.
He attended schools in West Plains, Missouri.
He was a farmer and a member of the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church.
On November 6, 1995 in Hayti, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Thelma Marie Copeland.
Survivors include: his wife, Thelma Marie Goss of Hayti; his mother, Virginia Wray Austin of Hayti; three sons, Jerry Skelton of Erie, Pennsylvania, James Goss of Fairview, Pennsylvania and Ray Goss of Wardell; two daughters, Virginia Gream of Lilbourn, Missouri and Valerie Ion of Hayti; three brothers, Donny Goss of Caruthersville, Harlin Goss of Hayti and Jack Goss of Hardy, Arkansas; one sister, Laura Ellen Houston of Caruthersville and 30 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Wayne Goss, and one daughter, Sharon.
Services were held September 20, 1996 at 2 p.m. at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Alley officiating. Interment in the Maple Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Robert Bolan, Jeff Barker, Don Birmingham, Shane Deaton, Henry Dotson and Wayne Jarred.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville in charge of services.
