Phyllis Gail Carter Lucas, 60, of Carrollton, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015.

She was born May 7, 1955, in Carrollton, Ky., to Carroll and Josie Duncan Carter. She graduated from Carroll County High School in 1973. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, swimming, bird watching, hiking, walking in the woods and camping. She also enjoyed chocolate, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling. She lived her whole life in Carroll County.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, James Carl Lucas; three children, Jeremy Martin Lucas of Lewisville, Texas; Jessica Ann Osbourne of Lexington, Ky. and John Taylor Lucas of Carrollton, Ky.; her mother, Josie Duncan Kindoll of Carrollton, Ky.; three siblings, Vickie Warren, Michael Carter and Barry Carter, all of Carrollton, Ky.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; and one brother, Wesley Carter.

The funeral was set for 1 p.m. today at English Baptist Church in Carrollton, Ky. Burial will be in English Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church today from 10 a.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Cancer Centers of America.
