Andrew C. Hanson Funeral Held At Six Mile Grove Church
Funeral services for Andrew C. Hanson, 91, who died August 8 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held August 10 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church, rural Lyle, with the Rev. Gaylord Grant officiating.
Andrew Christian Hanson, Sr. was born April 30, 1894 in Hanley Falls, Minn., the son of Peter and Maria (Ree) Hanson. He married Anna Bell Wortz January 28, 1925 in Minneapolis. Nine children were born to them. The Hansons made their home in Owatonna, Austin and Lyle through the years, and he was employed for Geo. A. Hormel in Austin for 15 years, and the YMCA in Minneapolis for 10 years. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of VFW Post 1216, American Legion Post 91 and World War I Barracks. Mr. Hanson was a member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran church where he taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood of the church.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Andeleen) Petranek of Lemond; Mrs. Max (Arvilla) Ellis of Osage; Mrs. Wayne (Phyllis) Fossey of St. Ansgar; Mrs. Walter (Mabelene) Sage of Owatonna, Minn., Mrs. Larry (Beverly) Stacken of Young America, Minn.; two sons, Ardel Hanson of Braintree, Mass. and Andrew Hanson of Garden Grove, Calif.; also three sisters, Sena Hanson, Hattie Colvet and Alida Rossing, all of Minneapolis; 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hanson was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; two sons, Arlow and Richard; four grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.
Burial was in Six Mile Grove cemetery with Rev. Grant in charge of committal services. Honorary bearers were members of World War I Barracks, of which Mr. Hanson was past state commander.
