Howard Dukes
McCormick, S.C. - The funeral for Howard Dukes, Lake Forest Drive, who died Friday, will be at 3 p.m. today at McCormick First Baptist Church with the Revs. Doug Kauffmann and Henry Gambrell officiating. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be in Overbrook Cemetery. Mr. Dukes was a native of Molena, Ga., and a member of McCormick First Baptist Church. He was a mason and a Past Master of Mine Lodge No. 117 and a member and Past Commander in the American Legion. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a retired employee of Millican Mills. Survivors include his wife, Oculese Holliday Dukes; a daughter, Barbara Dukes Self, Parksville; two sons, Howard Wayne Dukes, Gales Ferry, Conn., and Clarence Edward "Bucky" Dukes, LaGrange, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Brenda Lewis, McCormick; two stepsons, Paul J. Edmonds and Ronald Edmonds, both of McCormick; four sisters, Mrs. E.L. (Hazel) Creswell, Mrs. Edsel (Rose) Dunn, Meansville, Mrs. David (Joyce) Stout, Griffin, Ga.,and Mrs. James (Mary Elizabeth) Strickland, Molena; and three brothers, James Benjamin Dukes, Meansville, Grady E. Dukes, Houston, Texas, and Marvin T. Dukes, Lincolnton, Ga. Nephews will be pallbearers. Members of the Baracca Sunday School Class of McCormick First Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.
