married, Helen Lucille Chandler in 1947Mr. Harry Lee Carmichael, 93, of Sarcoxie, Missouri passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in the comfort of his home.
Harry entered this life on September 4, 1925 in rural Jasper County, to the union of the late Ed and Mena (Burkey) Carmichael. At an early age he began working on the family farm. In August of 1947 he was united in marriage to Helen Chandler, together they shared sixty years together until her passing of November 29, 2007. For several years he worked for Juvenile Shoe and Tamko roofing. Harry was a hard worker as well as a loyal and dedicated employee. Harry served as mayor Pro-tem for the City of Sarcoxie. He was involved with the ribbon cutting ceremony when I-44 was opened. He was a lifelong area resident and was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed riding horses and farming, as well as spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Helen; grandson, Nathan Carmichael; siblings, Quintis Carmichael, Frank Carmichael and Norma Jean Carmichael.
Harry is survived by his Charles Carmichael of Sarcoxie, Missouri; grandchildren, Clint Carmichael (Trista) of Webb City, Missouri and Julie Shelton (Mark) of San Marcos, California; great grandchildren, Trevor and Tyler Shelton, Tyeshia, Ashlyn, Quinton, Ainsley, Sammi, and Sydney Carmichael ; two sisters, Donna Carmichael and Anna Marie Canfield; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Carmichael are 9:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Sarcoxie Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Filsinger officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Community Outreach in Sarcoxie in care of the funeral home.
