A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, in Portland Memorial Mausoleum for Joseph Raymond Rettinger , who died Aug. 31 at age 83.

Mr. Rettinger was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Ashland, Pa. He graduated from Pittsburgh State University and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Portland in the late 1940s and was a sales representative for Nalley's Fine Foods and Hammick & Sons until retiring in 1988. He then worked for Stan Brown's Arts and Crafts. He was a founding member and past officer of the Gresham Elks Lodge No. 1805. In the early 1960s, he married Birdie Beers.
