Tommye Edwin Thomas Matthes Hutton was born March 13, 1895 in Burleson Co., Texas, to James Reuben and Bettie Coffee (Holmes) Thomas. She was the 10th of 11 children in her family. She married Frank Edward Matthes on September 19, 1918, in Slaton, Texas, and 3 children were born to this union. After their divorce August, 1937, Tommye married Willie Wilson "Bill" Hutton on Dec. 19, 1937. They lived in LaMarque, Texas, and later, moved to Goodrich, Texas, where they enjoyed fishing at Lake Livingston. She passed away on September 25, 1977, in Livingston, Polk Co., Texas, and was buried in Mt. Rose Cemetery.
