Barney and Donna were married April 25, 1900 in Ritchie County, WV. In 1905, they came to CA with three of their children on the train. Donna was pregnant and when they arrived in Duarte, Los Angeles County, she gave birth to their fourth child, a son named Cree Grimm. They then moved up to Oleander, about 10 miles south of Fresno, they had five more sons. They worked in agriculture. Their son Aldon K that died in France in WWII bought 20 acres of Thompson Seedless grape vines, open land, 2 wells and a three room shack built in the 1800's. When he died, he left the property, 13249 Cedar Avenue, Fresno, CA to Eldon Grimm on the stipulation that their mother Donna be allowed to live there until her death. They built a small two bedroom house that the government help supply the building materials for. Their mother did not end up dying in the house. Sometime in the 1950's, she moved to Modesto where her daughter Velma Brown and her family lived. They owned small one bedroom houses and she was made to rent one of them. She did eventually return to the house on Cedar Avenue before 1960 and lived there until she got sick and had to go to a rest home in Oleander, where she died in 1970.
