Born in Stokes County, NC on January 7, 1935, he was the son of the late Gilmer Emerson Shelton and Josie Dee Flippin Shelton.
Lewis attended Morganton Freewill Baptist Church. He was a truck driver who loved his truck and his ole dog, Ramona.
Lewis is survived by his sister, JoAnne Arney of Morganton; nephews, Jeff Arney and Peggy, Robert Arney and April, Eddie Anderson and Gina; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Morganton Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Boone officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Hill Cemetery.
