Harvey Allen Mayfield was born June 14, 1884, in War Eagle, Benton County, Arkansas to William Larkin Mayfield and Nancy C Clark, the third of six children. He had two older sisters, Nellie and Gertie, and three younger brothers, Henry, Burl and Virgil.

He married Herbie Augusta Reynolds May 6, 1917 in Lipan, Hood County, Texas. They were the parents of four children, Lois Mae, Estel Allen, Norman Ray and Vernon Roy.

Harvey was a rather quiet man, easy to be with, always making you feel right at home. He and Herbie had a constant stream of visitors, both family and neighbors. They were the hub of both of their families because of their kindness, generosity and the love that they exhibited to everyone. They were especially sought by the younger generations, as there was never a dull moment at their house.

He was my father-in-law and a better one was not to be found. We miss him so much.
