Houston E. Ashlock, a longtime resident of Williamsburg, answered the Master’s call on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, in Sinai Hospice, Baltimore, Maryland. His life began on September 18, 1927, the son of the late Katie and John Ashlock. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church on Penniman Road. He retired from Ft. Eustis, after many years of service. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Houston was also preceded in death by his wife, Elneeda Ashlock, a son, Michael Ashlock and a grandson, Jabari Ashlock. He leaves to cherish his blessed memories his daughters, Carolyn Horne and Deeboraah Ashlock Webster; his son, Ronell Ashlock; his eleven grandchildren; his twenty-three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Dorothy Bartlett, Evelyn Thomas and Thelmond Long; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, in St. John Baptist Church, 1397 Penniman Road, with the Rev. Walter Hudson, Pastor and the Rev. Ronald A. Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 1427 Government Road by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Mr. Ashlock may be viewed in the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Professional services entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail Williamsburg.
