William John Bell, age 86, of Washington, Iowa died December 19, 1994 at the Washington Care Center following a lingering illness.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Elm Grove Cemetery with Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at the Eden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m. and they may be greeted after the service on Thursday at the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Washington Care Center.

William John Bell was born November 14, 1908 in Lone Tree to parents James and Frances (Petsel) Bell. He graduated from Lone Tree High School and attended the University of Iowa. He married Eva Lue Dodson on January 26, 1932 in Rock Island, Illinois. His wife died in 1982.

Mr. Bell lived in the county since 1934 and was a lifetime farmer northwest of Washington, Iowa. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau and the Washington County Cattlemen's Association.

He is survived by two sons: David Bell and Peter Bell both of Washington, Iowa; also eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one sister, Rae Chabel of Lone Tree, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three sisters and six brothers.
