Mary E. Chaffee was born in Illinois, Aug. 15, 1862 [error – should be 1861] and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Chaffee. She was married to E. A. Heald in September 1883, in Canton. Besides the husband there survive two sons and one daughter - Dean A. Heald and Miss Mary C. Heald of Canton and Mark M. Heald of Oberlin, O. One son, Charles H. Heald, died in Chicago five years ago in April. Other near relatives are one brother and three sisters - Charles J. Chaffee, Hood River, Ore.; Mrs. Sarah N. Baker and Mrs. Alice C. Snyder of Chicago and Mrs. J. O. Leigh of Evanston. One sister, Mrs. W. O. Dean, died a number of years ago.
Mrs. Heald was a faithful member of the Congregational church and always active in all of its societies and departments. In Canton and elsewhere, wherever she was known, she was held in sincerest regard by a host of devoted friends who valued her friendship because of her many beautiful traits of character, and everywhere there is profoundest regret at her death, mingled with deep sympathy for the bereaved family.
The funeral will be held at the home, 245 South First Avenue, at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. A. R. Thain, officiating, and burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
