Mary, daughter of Samuel Isaac Quackenbush and Mary Ann Dingman, married first Walter Samuel Moore, with whom she had one child, Ida May. Sadly her happiness was short lived as her husband died in 1886, just five years after their marriage. He was fixing the snow covered roof of the Baptist Church in Ames, N.Y. when he fell off the roof seriously injuring himself and dying a few days later when pneumonia set in. He had also been suffering for a few months from dyspepsia.

Three years later she married John H. Vosburgh on June 20, 1888 in Ames. He was the son of Peter Vosburgh and Catherine Van Alstine Vosburgh, born in August, 1857. They lived in Canajoharie. Sadly Mary only lived 5 more years, dying of "bright's disease" in 1893, only 31 years old. Her daughter, Ida May, was only 11 years old. It was a tragic loss for her. Her stepfather was unkind to her, and she had to move out, becoming a hired girl in many local families.
