Of St. Charles passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1931, at McGee, Missouri, the son of Roy C. Haynie Sr. and Myrtle Pearl McGee. He was their youngest son.
Roy retired from the construction trades. After retirement, he worked 20 years for two local funeral homes. He was an icon of compassion for those in mourning and will be sorely missed.
Roy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Zalma (Missouri) Masonic Lodge 545 AF&AM. He attended Zalma General Baptist Church.
Roy and Neola Berrong were united in marriage Dec. 26, 1953, at McGee, and she survives.
Loving survivors include his wife, Neola Haynie of the home; two sons, Terry (Sharon) Haynie of St. Charles and Gary (Betty) Haynie of Troy, Missouri; a grandson, Kevin Haynie of Bridgeton, Missouri; three great-granddaughters, Courtlyn, Savannah and Abigail; a special nephew, Randy Berrong of St. Ann, Missouri; a special friend, Nancy Hisaw of Advance, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and two sisters, James Daniel Haynie, Russel Lee Haynie, Eugene Carl Haynie, Virginia Rose Finn, Dorothy Mae Hill, Mack D. Haynie and Thomas "Walter" Haynie; and a grandson, Joshua Lee Haynie.
