Albert retired from the U. S. Army as an E-7 after 27 years of service. He was a Vietnam War (3 tours) and the Korean War veteran. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne and Special Forces. He received the National Defense Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Armed Forces Epeditionary Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Ranger Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (seven awards).
