Shirley J. Peebles, 86, of 992 US Route 11, Marathon, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at her home after a lengthy illness. Shirley was born October 27, 1929 in the town of Marathon, a daughter of the late John and Mary Lucas Padbury. A lifelong resident of the Marathon area, she worked alongside her husband, Ward S. Peebles in the family business, Ward's Travel Trailers from 1969 until 2005. During that time she was a homemaker and mother to three active boys. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, caring for her family and traveling with her husband throughout the country. She is survived by her husband, Ward at home: sons, Randolph W. of Georgia, Gregory A. of Marathon and Lindsey (Maricel) of Marathon; her grandchildren, Gregory R., John, Angie and five others; several great-grandchildren and a brother, Gary Padbury of Marathon. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 21st, 7:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Marathon. Interment will be delayed in Marathon Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, the 21st from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY, 441 West Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, 13204.
