Word was received Saturday of the death of McD. Towner, a brother of Mrs. Joel Tishue, the death occurring at Long Beach, Calif. Mr. Towner was well known in this community having homesteaded near Ulysses, Nebr. in 1864, living there until a few years ago when he moved to University Place where his children finished their education.

He was a sufferer from diabetes and other complications and about two years ago removed to Long Beach, Calif., in hopes of receiving benefit from the change.

He was first married to Alice Davis, eldest daughter of Mrs. W. R. Davis of this place. To this union were born two children both of whom survive him, Will of Long Beach and Mrs. Henry Diers of Ulysses.

Later he was married to Florence Wimberly who still survives him. To the last union three children were born, the two youngest being with their mother, the eldest is at the head of a school in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mr. Towner had almost reached his three score years and ten at the time of his death. The interment took place at Long Beach.
