Stephen HUNT, 1797-1860, was the eldest son of William HUNT and Rebekah BEDFORD, of Rutherford County, North Carolina.

Born in 1797, Rutherford County, North Carolina, Stephen HUNT, married Nicey [variant spelling: NICEY, NICY, NICA, NISA] JOHNSON, daughter of Nathan JOHNSON and Jane QUEEN.

The family of Stephen HUNT, 1797-1860 migrated westward and were in Union County, Georgia by March 11, 1841; their youngest son, John BYNUM HUNT was born in 1842, in Union County, Georgia. With the exception of Mary Priscilla HUNT, born in Tennessee, the remaining children of Stephen HUNT and Nicey JOHNSON were born in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

Stephen HUNT, 1797-1860, was a farmer. He died of pneumonia in February 1860. He is buried probably in Bethlehem Cemetery, Blairsville, Union County, Georgia. The Heritage of Union County. Union County, Georgia. 1832-1993. Article 595, P:201. Mrs. Stevie Lou Powell, Bartow, Florida.

Widow, Nicey JOHNSON HUNT, died after 1880.

The Kelley's had moved to Union County, Georgia prior to 1840. John Bynum HUNT was killed at the Battle of Chickamauga, near Leets Springs, in today's Catoosa County, Georgia. Widow Rebecca Matilda KELLEY HUNT never remarried and raised their only child, Stephen Summery HUNT with the help of her mother-in-law, Nisa JOHNSON HUNT; they also raised many of the grandchildren.

Rebecca KELLEY HUNT died April 1935 and is buried in Winter Haven, Florida.
