John Matthew Kielbasa passed away in his home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, in Huntington Beach, California, at age 67. John was born on September 25, 1948, in Utica, New York. He is the 3rd of 5 children and the only son born to Matthew C. and Mary T. Kielbasa.
John grew up in Denver, Colorado. In 1961, at the age of 13, John relocated with his family to San Pedro, California, where he attended Holy Trinity Catholic School, later graduating from Fermin Lasuen High School in 1966. Upon graduating high school he worked for the US Post Office in San Pedro and attended Harbor Junior College at night. In 1970, John graduated from the California Highway Patrol Academy where he served as a California Highway Patrol Officer for 23 years, retiring in 1993 at the rank of lieutenant.
In 1995, John graduated from Western State University of Law in Fullerton, California and passed the California State Bar later that year. He became an attorney specializing in Workers Compensation Law with the Law Offices of Reino and Iida in Lakewood, California. He worked as an attorney for the past 20 years and was actively practicing law at the time of his death.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew C. and Mary T. Kielbasa. He is survived by his sisters: Diane, Carolyn (husband Jay), Christine (husband Jim) and Elaine. He is also survived by his 5 children: John (wife Maria), Michele, Michael (wife Dori), Kathy (husband Jay) and Christina "Tina" along with his 10 beautiful grandchildren.
