Mrs. Howard died Aug. 25, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Bedias, Texas, to Berry Hood and Kate Nichols Johnson.
Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Howard was a retired school teacher and a counselor with more than 30 years of service. She was a member of the University of Houston Women's Alliance and she was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Lynne Cooney.
Among her survivors are her husband Wendell T. and daughter, Kay Elliott, both of Carson City; daughter Ann Creel of Denver, Colo.; brother Burnett Johnson of Baytown, Texas and five grandchildren.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
