William Larry Denton, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 10, 2015, at his home of a lingering illness. He was under the care of his wife with the assistance of Hands of Hope Hospice.

William was born May 3, 1935, in Downey, Idaho, to William Ray Denton and Neva Parris Denton. He grew up and attended schools in Arimo and attended Marsh Valley High School. He moved to Pocatello where he worked for PFE. He moved to Alaska at Age 29 and worked for the Alaska Railroad. In 1964, he returned to Pocatello. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Simplot and at the Gay Mine.

On June 21, 1967, he married Renae Murdock in Elko, Nevada. William and Renae made their home in Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked for the Alaska Railroad until he began his own business which lasted for 20 years. In 1986, they moved to Vacaville, California, where he continued to operate heavy equipment. He became a member of Operating Engineers Local 3. In 2005, they moved to Idaho Falls.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed music, playing the steel guitar, hunting, and fishing. He loved his grandkids, family, and friends.

William is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Renae Denton of Idaho Falls, ID; son, William Larry (Linda) Denton Jr. of Vacaville, CA; grandson, Ryan Denton of Sacramento, CA; granddaughter, Tonia (Alex) Ramos of Fairfield, CA; granddaughter, Rachelle (David) Versa of Fairfield, CA; great grandchildren, Luna Versa and Alex Ramos, Jr.; sisters, Patricia Denton and Gayle Wiley of Kaysville, UT; sister-in-law, Sandra (Vernal) Beal of Idaho Falls, ID; friend and honorary son, Sean Campbell and his children, Kayla and Jessica of Kalispell, MT.

He was preceded in death by his father; William Ray Denton; mother, Neva Denton; sisters, Dawna Mae, Jenny, Trudy; and daughter, Barbara Gayle Denton.


Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, with Tim Belnap officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
