Martinsville Bulletin-4-18-2011(edited) - The funeral for Bishop Glen Adkins, 78, of Martinsville, who died April 16, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bassett Funeral Service. The Revs. Terry Adkins, Tom Warren, Dale Bailey and William Randolph will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born July 31, 1932, in Carroll County to James Preston Adkins and Cora Mildred Manus Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Nancy Clontz, Prasky Adkins, Evelyn Hammock and Hazel Slate; and four brothers, Randall Adkins, Will Adkins, Adam Adkins and Bill Adkins.
Bishop Adkins served as pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy at various churches in Virginia for 38 years
