Mary Lou Alton, 82, of Copley Road Weston passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 in Crestview Manor Nursing Home of Jane Lew following an extended illness. She was born in Clarksburg on December 26, 1932: daughter of the late Theodore Lupas and Margaret “Maggie” (Nicholson) Lupas. On February 26, 1948, she married Calvin A. Alton, Sr., who preceded her in death on September 30, 1995.

Mrs. Alton is survived by three daughters: Betsy (Nick) Butcher and Regina (Tommy) Taylor both of Copley and Margaret “Cindy” (Jeff) Weiford of Flemington, four sons: Arthur “PeeWee” (Terecia) Alton, Calvin Miller (Debbie) Alton Jr., Alonzo “Toad” (Tracy) Alton and Richard Alton all of Weston, 15 grandchildren: Tiffany, Brooke, Lisa, Nicky, Melody, Matt, Beth, Adam, Jonathan, Erin, Joshua, Alonzo Jr., Emily, Reva and Makayla, ten great grandchildren: Levi, Chelsea, Cierra, Mason, Boe, Gracie, Madalyn, Melody, Cambrie and Damien and one great great granddaughter: Serenity. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Calvin, Mary was preceded in death by two daughters: Brenda Lou Givens and Sandee Elizabeth Alton, two grandchildren: Shaunna and Jeremy, one great grandchild: Summer Grace, one ½ brother: Everett Sperry and four sisters: Renee, Stella, Clara and an infant sister.
Mrs. Alton was a homemaker. She attended the Murphy’s Creek Baptist Church and earlier in her life the Greek Orthodox Church of Clarksburg. Two of Mary’s hobbies were spending time at the Lewis County Senior Center and dancing including line, tap and clogging but actually any type of dancing. Her greatest joys were her church and spending lots of time with her grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Murphy’s Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Wease Day officiating and a tribute from her nephew Willis Bentley. Interment will follow services in the Weston Masonic Cemetery.
